Perkins Center For the Arts: Opening Jan 31st 2009 1pm -4pm
My Mom and I used to meet my Grandpa Ira and Grandma Lois at Perkins for Breakfast at the bottom of the hill from where they lived in Danville, PA. I miss How my Grandmother with giggle when my Grandfather would order Waffles, envisioning him pouring syrup on them.
A Photograph I made of "Grandpa Ira Whistling to the Love birds." just won a Jurors award at Perkins Center for the Arts. This Saturday is the opening of the show and I will be meeting Grandpa at Perkins again.
The opening reception for the exhibition is this coming Saturday, January 31, from 1-4pm.

Election
Philly Baby.
On these recent trips back to Philly I have tryed to slow down, instead of trying to be every where at once with multiple cameras to cover the bases, I have returned to the basics. Useing the point and shoot to capture simple moments to document and the 35mm film camera with a 50 lens a round the neck to make my pictures. I spent election day wondering looking for the quiet moments sometimes not so quite but the personal moments, focusing on making my own pictures and connecting to my own story, its a lonley way of shooting, but extremly true. This next batch of film will be revealing of the past couple months.

The importance of ‘Home’ cannot be expressed in words.
It is the place where culture and community are born,
grow and live. Home is the foundation of our future, and
three years after Hurricane Katrina residents of the Gulf
Coast still struggle to rebuild. Coming Home, is an on-going
project that documents residents in Louisiana returning
home after Katrina and their determination to
rebuild their neighborhood and community.
Part of the proceeds of the show will go to buying
drywall and insulation for residents of the Gentilly
section of New Orleans, through St. Gabriel
The Archangel Church(www.stgabe.net).

What keeps us going.
This is a Photo of Robert Green's Trailer wall in the lower 9th ward in Jan 2008, I found it in the archives when I was putting a presentation together. Photos like these keep me going, just like this wall does for him. I gave him a photo of my Grandfather whistling to the love birds, a connection to animals is what kept him going through his last days on earth. Robert added it to his wall. I miss my Grandfather deeply. Robert lost his Grandmother and young Niece during Katrina when they where swept away by the water from the broken Levy, he miss's them deeply.

Figerpaint Opening May 28th.
I am proud to announce that my work will be featured in the upcoming Fingerpaint Show at the historical Dia Center......
The first event from Fingerpaint will be Wednesday May 28th from 7pm - 11pm.
It will feature work from 25 emerging photographers and artists, as well a selection of specially donated pieces. Items will be for sale through a silent auction with all proceeds going to benefit Brad Pitt's Make it Right Foundation for the restoration of the 9th Ward district in New Orleans.
Held at the historic former Dia Gallery's 10,000 sq foot space on West 22nd street, the event will be an amazing showcase of emerging talent from across America for a great cause.
Fingerpaint seeks to facilitate the exposure of talented young artists, through ad hoc art events at high-end galleries in New York City. Each show is followed by a silent auction, from which all proceeds go towards the Make It Right Foundation, building green affordable housing for victims of Hurricane Katrina. The title 'Fingerpaint' evokes the do-it-yourself mentality often associated with youth culture, the childish impertinence of us 'sneaking in' to these high-end galleries, and the firm belief that our passions can be harnessed to benefit the lives of future generations.
I will never stop fighting for you, no matter what they say or do.......
